Cheese Head Country!

Flying into Milwaukee, driving to La Crosse for 3 days, then to Madison for 3. Worst thing about flying. When lame people put their jacket and small bag in the overhead compartments... Come on people. Second worst thing is when people open the overhead compartment when it's closed. Obviously it's full if it's closed.... Smh.
Driving into La Crosse I had 0 service from an hour and a half out. Ha. Still have shakey AT&T service but oh well. The town is similar to Corvegas, a small college town that thrives off the university (aka probably pretty slow in the summer months). Rainy and chilly, but just like ory-gon (how most Midwesterners say it). Can't believe I'm headed to Lambeau Field and can't believe that Aaron Rodgers will not be Discount daa-ble checking due to a collar bone debacle. Smh. Still going to get a cheese head haha and still going to have a blast. S/O Sam Shainsky and Alex Maahks (1. For the tickets) and 2 for trekkin up to Wisconsin for the weekend. S/O to Nate Roy, Project Pat and SpenceMasterFlex for hosting us and showing us around MADtown.

Welcome to Detroit City

^that was the anthem that played in my head through my entire trip. Ha. Also, I was extremely bummed that eminem wasn't playing on every radio station in the Detroit metro area! I loved when berserk played every so often and was stoked that the last words I heard as I approached the airport were 'vomit on my sweater already, moms spaghetti...' Ha. GREAT trip to Ann Arbor, what an awesome college town with the perks of a large city only 35 minutes away. BIG shoutout to the Ms. Leah Canvasser!!! A wonderful tour guide and host throughout my stay! Couldnt have asked for anything more or anyone better. Sidebar. Great Instagram roast of Alyssa. #GoBlue . The BIG House was awesome. A gigantic stadium with rich history and cold Midwest weather made for the perfect combination and Ann Arbor game day experience. I cannot believe how packed the stadium was, what if the Beavers had the same following and support! The college town is very active and young with a lot of people constantly out and about despite the freezing weather. Maize and Blur covered the town and don't even think about wearing red or green.
I also was very fortunate to scalp $120 tickets for $40 to the Bengals vs. Lions game. Ford Field wasn't like any other stadium I have been in and had a large feel with a cozy side of baby blue. MEGATRON is back! So glad I got to see his first BIG game in a few and he carried my team to victory... Good thing I have friends that don't know how to trade....

KNOXvegas

3 hours and 33 minutes north of our humble apartment in Atlanta, nests a college town known for Peyton Manning and an abundance of Volunteer hours. This. Is. KNOXVEGAS!!!! I know Lucas won't agree, but Corvallis and Knoxville are very similar. Both fun college towns. Both with mediocre football teams. Both with strong Greek communities. Both wear orange on game days. I had a fun time meeting with the Phi Delta chapter and was welcomed with true Southern Hospitality (which in fact is a REAL thing my west coast homies!). A cool town that loves their Vols and prides themselves that they are in the SEC.
Neyland Stadium is truly unbelievable and I was speechless at how loud it got during the game. What a battle vs. Georgia and a heartbreaking touchback left a lot of Vols sad to see their Smokey Grey Uniforms defeated in overtime. 105,000 people packed the stadium that still was a sea of orange! I couldn't believe that they still and have always played on real grass field, I feel most college teams play on Astro-Turf. Cool tailgate scene and a wonderful atmosphere that will be tough to top! #GoBeavs

Plattsburgh, New York

Flew into Burlington Vermont. Beautiful landing; over the colored leaves changing and the wonderful fall in the northeast. Drove 46 minutes down a quiet and slightly curvy road. Loved the peaceful drive that wasn't over packed and was a great change of pace from the densly packing Atlanta. I rolled the windows down and soaked up the crisp autumn breeze and could smell thanksgiving dinner that is coming up quick! Man. I really enjoy a crisp sunny fall day and glad that was how I was introduced to the northeast. I arrived at Gordon Landing, a thank you, and boarded the Cumberland Head - Grand Isle Ferry. I expected a ferry similar to the one I took in Seattle to get to my parents new place, but was humbly surprised by a ferry that maybe held a total of 25 vehicles. I cruised on and we were en route to New York! Cool, funky little college town. Very nice country sides and  loved seeing color changing leaves on trees. < One thing that I really miss about Oregon. The university is 6,000 students strong and they have a fun college town atmosphere. I had a marathon on a Wednesday with 11 meetings but was able to take a nice break and watch the Omicron Theta boys dominate in Intramural Football (I think my Epsilon Delta class could take then though...). Meeting a went well, guys were excited to hear my input (I think) and they are ready to hit the ground running this term. Beautiful area and a great visit!

Buford Georgia

Finally settled in Atlanta! Got an apartment with two homies: Chris and Lucas. Lucas works with me as a Field Executive and Chris is an engineer programmer. We got a 3 bedroom place at Waterstone. Nice, new place with a pool and a great TV room where well prolly watch the first couple weeks of football until AT&T gets out to install Internet and TV. Work is going well. Office assistant for now until I start traveling after Labor Day. Cannot be more pumped (schedule to follow soon) for my approved travel schedule and to get out on the road (famous lady words) haha. Haven't explored the midtown or downtown scene much. We live north out by our jobs in Buford, but it's a nice area and very progressive and growing fast! More to come soon, been settling and getting used to my new HOME 🏠🏠 Went to the Atlanta Falcons Training Camp and saw the Beavers tearing it up! Can't wait for their preseason game tomorrow vs. the Bengals. #RiseUp

Indy

After getting into Atlanta and sort of settling in, I caught a flight bright and early with my fellow Field Executive Pat. We are now in the wonderful city of Indianapolis for the FEA Field Staff Conference; a conference for all Fraternity and Sorority Field Executives that will also travel the country as a national rep for their organizations. I am pumped to meet others doing the same thing I am and glad their are others unfamiliar and new to the position.

HOTlanta

We finally made it to Atlanta and was fortunate to stay with my fraternity brother Marvin at his apartment near Emory University. As we pulled in we were surprised how many people were still on the freeway (and this is a 6 lane freeway which I had never seen out in Oregon haha). Next morning Alyssa helped me but we struggled to find an apartment - 1. Because everything was closed on Sunday and 2. Tough to know whether or not the place was nice. After a couple of frustrating hours we decide to ditch the work and go to the Atlanta Braves game vs. the Cincinnati Reds at Turner Field. Sweet field but a tough loss for the home team :( cruised around Atlanta and scouted a few apartments from a far and then enjoyed a Thai/Sushi dinner :) great city. Amazing company and a new beginning starts now! #GoBeavs

Nahleanss

Burr burr. Hello followers Sean decided to up his followers by allowing me to take the wheel. Let me say I was skeptical about this blogging thing because it reminds me of an online diary but hey if you can't beat 'em join 'em right? So here it goes. New Orleans was awesome. Hard to describe such a unique city filled with tradition and culture. We developed a new found appreciation for "dat" and the fleur de lis (hard to say with my affinity for anchors). The drive from Houston was beauuutiful, the stretches of bridges  for 30 miles as the sunset were almost as pretty as Sean.  We arrived just in time for a delicious dinner with my sorority sister Cece Carroll and her wonderful grandparents: PaPa and NaNa. We feasted on an authentic Italian Caprese Salad, Crawfish Etoufe and homemade wine from PaPa. Wow. So delicious! We felt the southern hospitality from the first step in the door. Though tempted to stay and hang with Papa and Nana all night, we decided to go out and see the night life of Nola. What a city! We passed by multiple Greek houses and hit up a Tulane staple bar called The Boot. It had a peacock-esk (corvallis) vibe very open and all college students. They had a sick happy hour from 4-10 so it was a happening spot plus they had many 90's hits playing--shout out Jenna Halberg and The Goofy Movie. Then we hit up a bar called Tipatina, where there was a yazz flute band (Ron burgundy achem Sammi Coates). But man such nice people of New Orleans and they are down to party. Except we did learn cab drivers have guns on hand eek! The real nawleans adventure started the next morning at the crack of dawn. We woke up at 5am Nola time, 3am our time to go out on the Louisiana swamp lands and see some gators. Shout out swamp people Sean's favorite show aside from storage wars. We had an entertaining captain who mumbled a lot like Adam Sadler from waterboy, "you can do it" it was epic! We saw two 900 pound gators (shout out gaterboys) one that didn't  move because "big al" had just consumed a 150 pound pig/ bigger than Cece it was scary! After that we headed to the French quarter where we went to Cafe du Monde and had Beingnets (fried dough with tons of powder sugar) and coffee, wa wa wee woo it was good. Then we walked around seeing bourbon street, the cathedral, all the street art and the little blue dog exhibit. Cece was the best tour guide! Then we saw the epic cemeteries of New Orleans. After we dined at Mendinas and had the best food I think we have had yet, fried oyster and catfish po boys. Mmmmmm. So much Fried. Food.  It was delectable and we finished off with the famous Louisiana snow balls. Not knowing what to expect we thought it was going to be like a 7-11 slurpee and boy... were we wrong the 7-11 Guys, that know Kayla Kretz by name, need to take notes these frozen treats were off the chain. So creamy but icey and sweet gahhh I want more. I left Nola with a new found travel bug to see this world, especially in the grand land of u s of a. Sad we are headed to the end of the trip and feeling dat love.

Colorado thoo

Left Colorado Springs this morning, had a blast meeting Alyssa's long time friend Paige and Pat. Paige took us on a great Brew Tour of the Miller/Coors factory and then showed Alyssa downtown Denver. I got the wonderful opportunity to meet up with Ryan Marshall and we got to play an amazing 9-holes at Glenmoor Country Club. The awesome day ended with a rooftop dinner in beautiful downtown Denver and then a quick trip down to Colorado Springs to meet up with Pat.

Utah...?

Left 107 degree weather in Vegas and 4 hours later were in 57 degree weather in Arizona. Crazy how it changed so drastically, but I'm not complaining! 8 hours of driving and a couple stops (Hoover Dam: thanks Hayden for the strong rec, and Grand Canyon: desert view trail). We stopped in Kanab, Utah for the night and will go to Zion National Park in the am before we trek to Denver, CO! What a day of long roads and amazing rock scenery! Thank you Anne to end the night with a delicious microwaveable dinner :) Yummers!!
